Diversity & Governance(D&G)
The second meeting of the Diversity & Governance Group (D&G Group)
2023/04/25
To the members of Transcultural Management Society
Emiko Magoshi, President, Transcultural Management Society
Chieko Matsuda, Diversity & Governance Subcommittee Chair
We are pleased to report that the second meeting of the Diversity & Governance Group (D&G Group) was held on Sunday, January 29, 2023.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all the members of the Society for making this meeting a great success despite the fact that it was held on a Sunday. Many guests who were introduced by our members participated in the symposium, making it a very fruitful symposium. Thank you very much.
At last year's inaugural symposium, many participants commented that they were particularly impressed with the lecture given by Mr. Takayo Hasegawa, President and Representative Director of Showa Denki Holdings, Inc.. This year's symposium featured a practical version of that lecture by Ms. Rie Inuki, a member of Showa Denki's Women's Activity Promotion Project, which was also very fruitful and gave us a deeper understanding of the company's approach. We heard that Ms. Inuki has been asked to give a new lecture by a member of the society as a result of this lecture. We believe that this is a wonderful opportunity to expand the activities of Diversity & Governance.
As for diversity, Professor Takehiko Ito of Nagoya University of Commerce and Business School gave a very interesting lecture titled "Considering Diversity from a Management Perspective". In the area of corporate governance, Mr. Kengo Nishiyama, Senior Researcher at Nomura Institute of Capital Markets Research, gave a detailed lecture on the latest corporate governance trends under the title of "Corporate and Financial Capital Market 'Transformation' in the Era of New Capitalism. The content of both lectures was very thought-provoking and contributed greatly to improving the knowledge of the Diversity & Governance Subcommittee.
We also received a valuable lecture from a member of the association, Professor Etsuko Tsutsumi, Faculty of Commerce, Hokkai University of Commerce, on the topic of "University Governance - Focusing on the Revised Whistleblower System. We are sincerely looking forward to receiving many more presentations from our members in the future.
We look forward to your continued support of the D&G Subcommittee.
