The 2023 Kyushu Division Study Session was held on Saturday, March 11, at the JR Hakata City Conference Room (1). There were 14 participants present in person and 9 participants joining via Zoom. The session began with opening remarks from Kyushu Division Chairman Ono, followed by four reports, including a student report, and a commemorative lecture titled "Creating a Platform for Journalists in the New Era of IT - Global Health, Pandemics, and Planetary Health".
The first report focused on a new trend in the broadcasting industry known as "BS Yoshimoto's Regional Strategy". The second report examined the history of startups in the United States and discussed the Japanese government's support system, challenges, and future directions for the Japanese startup field. The third report discussed new developments in trade theory. It was also inspiring to learn that Hazuki Fukagawa, the student presenter, received a grant for her business idea through the student venture development program sponsored by Fukuoka University.
During the keynote speech, a former news writer and medical journalist presented fresh insights on global health, particularly through collaborations with the medical community, including a symposium in partnership with the British medical community.
Professor Izawa (Professor Emeritus, Kyushu Sangyo University) provided an overall review and offered valuable comments on the direction of research in the new era.
President Magoshi expressed gratitude and joy for the 20th anniversary of the Transcultural Management Society (TMS) and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Kyushu Division, emphasizing the importance of further development within the TMS.
The next session will be held at Fukuoka University on Saturday, March 9, 2024.
